Namaste, officer!

Kerala Gazetted Officers Sangh (KGO Sangh) is a dynamic organization that has been actively operating within the state of Kerala for the past 27 years. It serves as a non-political entity, comprising gazetted officers employed in the state government under various departments, except teaching staff.

The organization has a vision that the gazetted officers, who hold positions of authority and responsibility, should share a common nationalistic perspective and dedicate themselves to the development of the nation through their work.

Central to the ethos of KGO Sangh is the motto ‘Work is Worship’, emphasizing their commitment to professionalism and the sacredness of diligent effort. This principle underscores their belief in contributing meaningfully to the progress and welfare of society through their roles in government service.

Inspired by the ideals of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), the largest trade union in the India as well as of the world, KGO Sangh integrates these principles into its framework. This affiliation signifies their alignment with broader movements advocating for the overall welfare of workers, albeit focusing specifically on gazetted officers within the Kerala government.

One of the primary objectives of KGO Sangh is to safeguard and advance the job-related rights of gazetted officers across Kerala Government Services. This commitment extends to all officers, regardless of their membership status within the organization, ensuring fair treatment in matters concerning their professional interests.

KGO Sangh is also affiliated to RRKMS (Rashtriya Rajya Karmachari Maha Sangh), by being a constituent of Federation of Employees and Teachers and Organization (FETO). As part of FETO, KGO Sangh have participated in numerous remarkable struggles for the wellbeing of gazetted employees. One such recent event is the protest against Salary Challenge, which was an authoritarian measure by the state government to curtail the monthly salaries of employees. This move was met with resistance from KGO Sangh and other FETO organizations, who viewed it as detrimental to the financial security of gazetted employees. Their participation in these protests underscores their advocacy for fair wages and protection of employee rights in Kerala.

KGO Sangh continues to lead various ongoing protests by state government employees, advocating primarily for the timely allocation of delayed Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears. They are also pushing for the reinstatement of the old pension scheme, opposing the current contributory pension schemes. The organization remains at the forefront, actively engaging in agitations to address these key issues affecting government employees. These endeavors emphasize the importance of financial security and stability for employees through timely financial benefits.

In order to further enhance the wellbeing of state government employees, KGO Sangh conducts regular monthly online seminars known as ‘KGO Sangh Lectures’. These seminars are tailored to address topics directly relevant to employees, covering a wide range of subjects such as “mental health at work” and “economic issues affecting the salaried class”. By customizing the content of these lectures, KGO Sangh ensures that they are not only informative but also highly pertinent to the challenges and concerns faced by state government employees. This approach also helps in learning coping strategies necessary to thrive in these challenging times.

The state-level office-bearers of KGO Sangh are Shri B Manu (State President), Shri E P Pradeep (State General Secretary), and Ratheesh R Nair (State Treasurer). KGO Sangh has its state office located at Vanrose Junction, Trivandrum.

KGO Sangh represents a collective effort among gazetted officers in Kerala to uphold values of nationalism and service. Through their advocacy and actions, they contribute positively to the wellbeing of all gazetted officers of the state.
